Helen (Devonick) Corwin, a resident of Winthrop & formerly of Chelsea, entered into rest on March 17, 2008 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 83 years old & the wife of the late Charles D. Corwin who entered into rest in 2001.
Born in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Morris & Rose (Katzman) Devonick, Helen was raised & educated in Chelsea, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1942. She was a career employee of the Social Security Administration & also was employed for a number of years as a receptionist for the Bank of Boston. Helen was a former member of Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea & Hadassah.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Molly Devonick of Lynn, nephew David Devonick of NJ, great-nephew, great-nieces, & cousins. Helen was the sister of the late Irving Devonick & aunt of the late Michael Devonick.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea Cemetery, 50 Buxton Rd. (off Rt. 114) DANVERS. Cantor Oksana Chapman of Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea will officiate. Memorial donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Foundation, 17 Lafayette Ave. Chelsea, MA 02150 or to a charity of one’s own choosing.
