A Memorial Mass will be held for Wayne B. Mello who completed his life’s journey at home on March 16th. He was surrounded by his loved ones who take comfort in knowing that his passing was peaceful. Born & raised in Fall River, he was the son of the late James I. & Lora (Souza) Mello.
He is survived by his longtime companion & best friend Pauline Luiz (Luz), loving brothers Kenneth (Tommy) Mello & Alan J. Mello, nieces & extended family. He was also brother of the late Robert P. Mello.
Wayne was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School. He started his career as a member of the Newport Carpenters Local & later Providence Local #94. Wayne also worked many years for Gilbane Construction & later as a self-employed contractor.
As a perfectionist in his trade, he loved working with his hands & spent many hours helping family, friends & neighbors with their home projects. He had the soul of a true artist, a poet who wrote with flowers making his home a beautiful sight for viewing & photographing. He was especially known for his outdoor holiday displays.
Wayne had a special love & fond memories of his childhood summer home in Portsmouth, R.I. (Island Park).
Private burial arrangements made by Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund in his memory has been set up at F.R. Municipal Credit Union, 1110 Robeson St. Wayne will be deeply missed & always remembered.
