LOWELL, MA– Eleanor M. (Marques) Barker, 77, of Lowell, died Tuesday, March 18th at the Sunbridge Care Center at Glenwood Nursing Home in Lowell. She was the wife of the late Paul L. Barker.
Born in Boston on October 8, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Freitas) Marques.
Mrs. Barker was educated in Somerville schools and graduated from Somerville High School. She had volunteered at St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington. She also loved playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends, as well as the staff at the nursing home, for whom she had great affection.
Mrs. Barker is survived by a son Robert J. Barker and his wife Nicole of Hudson, NH; a daughter Kathleen A. Ouellet and her husband Paul of Conyers, GA; three brothers Anthony Marques of New Hampshire and Richard and Joseph Marques both of Massachusetts; two sisters Mary Ann Smith of Massachusetts and Rose Marques of California; two grandchildren Renee Lancaster and Michele Nowak both of Georgia; four great grandchildren Naomi Lancaster, Wyatt Lancaster, Triston Nowak, and Cheyenne Nowak; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barker is predeceased by two brothers Albert and James Marques and a sister Theresa Murphy.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday from 3 until 7 PM. Her funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 8 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be sent to Sunbridge Care Center at Glenwood Nursing Home, 557 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 01854.
