FRANKLIN— Arturo de Francisco, 69, of Franklin, died Friday March 14, 2008 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care Center in Worcester, from injuries he received during an automobile accident last month.
Born October 6, 1938 in Bogota, Colombia, son of late Manuel de Francisco Calvo and Maria Carolina (Alford) de Francisco, he had lived in Franklin since 1979.
Mr. de Francisco was a graduate of the Universidad Del Valle in Bogota, Colombia, where he received the degree in Business Administration. For many years he worked at former Digital Equipment Corporation in Franklin and Maine. After he retired he dedicated his time to enjoy his passion for cars and had worked part time for several Boston area limousine companies.
He had a great love for his family, people and everything car related, including car races. He treasured the time he spent with his children, his brother and sisters as well as his nieces and nephews. He was known for being a gentle, sweet and a fun loving person.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens association.
He is survived by son Roberto de Francisco and his wife Olga Caripidis of Weston, Florida, daughter Maria Carolina de Francisco and her husband Zoran Kehler of Alexandria, Virginia, by brother Mario de Francisco and his wife Gladys de Francisco of North Carolina, and three sisters, Clara Denyer of Franklin, Nancy Borda and her husband Manuel Borda of Bogota, Colombia and Connie Lievano and her husband Carlos Lievano of Milford. He is also survived by granddaughter Alexandra de Francisco and many nieces and nephews.
He was the former husband of late Esperanza Parra and brother of late Olga Pinzon who died past December.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 10:15AM from Charles F. Oteri and Son Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin, MA (www.oterifuneral.com), with the funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church in Franklin, 1 Church Sq., at 11AM.
Interment will be private.
Calling hours are 5PM to 8PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the funeral home.
The entire de Francisco family would like to thank all the doctors and staff at 3ICU and trauma unit at University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care Center in Worcester for all of the care they gave to Arturo.
