Obituary

Windham, New Hampshire – Herbert O. Crucius, 96, died Thursday March 13, 2008 at the Salem Haven Nursing Home in Salem, NH.

Herbert was born in Lawrence, son of Otto W. and Anna M. (Froehlich) Crucius. After his birth he moved to Windham, NH, and lived there more than 60 years.
He received his education in the Lawrence School System.
Employments included the Wood Mills in Lawrence as a cloth inspector and was a self-employed painter and then worked for Harold Durr before his retirement in 1990.
Mr. Crucius was a member of the Painters Union and was instrumental in the founding of the Windham Playhouse as the technical assistant to the producer.

Herbert was a communicant of Saint Matthews Church in Windham and was a church usher.
The widower of Rose Crucius survivors include daughters Carolyn White of Methuen, Elaine Moynihan of East Hampstead, one son William and his wife Jayne Crucius of Windham, two sisters Anna Page of Methuen, and Esther Gale of Lawrence. Seven grandchildren: John, Lisa, Maureen, David, Kristine, Lauren, and Matthew, and 8 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Herbert was predeceased by two daughters Judith and Mary Crucius.

A Mass of Christian burial to which relatives and friends are invited will take place on Saturday at 12 noon in Saint Matthews Roman Catholic Church in Windham with burial to follow in Cemetery on the Hill.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
