In Dighton, March 10, 2008 Michael A. Sr. died suddenly in his home at the age of 60. Michael was the son of Walter Mirka of Taunton & the late Ardell (Flood) Mirka. He was born and educated in Taunton. While at T.H.S. he played varsity football & baseball. Later attending Coyne Electrical College. Michael had retired recently from Bay State Gas Co. He also served his country during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Army. Michael was a member of the Italian Club on Wales St. in Taunton. He also trained Labrador Retreivers at Gunning Island Retreivers. Michael also enjoyed hunting, fishing and his Grandchildren. Michael is survived by his children Michael Mirka Jr. & his wife Danielle of Norton and Jennifer Peckham & her husband Prescott of Tiverton, R.I. His Grandchildren Ryan Mirka, Grace Peckham and Prescott Peckham all of Tiverton, R.I. and Cole Mirka of Norton. His siblings Edward Mirka, Andrew Mirka both of Taunton and Maureen Lydon of Middleboro. His close friend Ruth Burke of Taunton and several neices and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Sat., March 15th at 11am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 12pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Fri. from 5-8pm. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
