John S. Lishman, Sr., 67

John S. Lishman, Sr., 67, a lifelong resident of Mansfield died on Monday March 10, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Beverly G. (Lewis) Lishman to whom he was wed to on December 20, 1964.
Born in Attleboro, MA on April 12, 1940 he was a dear son of the late Frederick C. and Clara P. (White) Lishman.
He grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield Public Schools and was a graduate of the former Country Day School in Attleboro. He was also a graduate of the Northeastern School of Broadcasting and the Boston School of Photography.
A United States Army veteran, he proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged August 6, 1965 with the rank of Private E-1.
Mr. Lishman was a former Chart Room Clerk having worked for the Foxboro Co. for 10 years before retiring.
A member of the Orthodox Congregational Church in Mansfield, John was also a former member of the church choir and when younger was a member of Cub Scout Pack 13 at the Congregational Church. He was a member of the Mansfield VFW. He was also an active member of Hillside Day Care in Mansfield.
In his teenage and early adult years his hobby was narrating songs and tapes. He also enjoyed classical and easy listening music and scrap booking.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his devoted sons; John S. Lishman, Jr. and Michael F. Lishman both of Mansfield, his brother in law Wallace Smith and his wife Becky of California and his sister in law Julia Smith of Mansfield. He was the uncle of Lori, Mary, Matthew, Lyla, Jessica, Miranda and Jonathan and was the great uncle of Roger, Alazaya and baby Jacob.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday March 17th at 10:00 A.M. at the Orthodox Congregational Church 17 West Street Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday March 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, John’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Memorial Fund of the Orthodox Congregational Church P.O. Box 322 Mansfield, MA 02048.
