Ruth G. Blades, R.N., 95, of Waterwheel Lane, North Kingstown, a registered nurse before retiring, died Saturday at South County Hospital. She was the wife of the late Albert H. Blades.
Born in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Mildred (Grant) Erickson. She had been a resident of East Providence before moving to North Kingstown.
In 1938 she graduated from the Roger Williams General Hospital School of Nursing, the former Homeopathic Hospital.
She is survived by and lived with her daughter, Priscilla R. Suennen and her husband, Rod in Coventry since 1990 and in North Kingstown until the time of her death, a son, David A. Blades and his fiancé, Elaine LaManna of Milford, CT; her grandchildren, Spencer C. Blades and Devyn of Salida, CO, Mark D. Suennen and his wife, Hannah Phelps of New Boston, NH, Diane M. Suennen of Melbourne, Australia, a great grandson, Dylan C. Blades in Colorado, and a sister Edith M. Grist and her husband Harold of South Kingstown. She was the sister of the late P. Leonard Erickson, Doris Peck Valliere, E. Earl Erickson, Sheila Berg Klatt and Charles M. Erickson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 12:30 pm in Phillips Memorial Baptist Church, 565 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI.
