Frederick L. “Fred” Davenport, Jr., 77 years of Brockton, died March 10, 2008 after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, son of the late Frederick L. and Helen V. (Kelliher) Davenport, Sr. He had been a lifelong resident of Brockton and a 1949 graduate of Brockton High School. Fred was a Navy veteran who served in Korea on the USS Coates, DE685. He had been employed by Verizon for 38 years, retiring in 2005. Fred was a longtime member of the Brockton YMCA and a committed member and sponsor for Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 years.
He is survived by his aunt, Claire Eaton of Swansea, sister-in-law Louise Davenport of Brockton, devoted cousin Kathy Lacey of Stoneham as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. He was the brother of the late John and Paul Davenport.
