Ronald Joseph Casagrande, 70, of Windham, NH, son of Joseph and Cloe (Liatti) Casagrande, died Monday at his home after a courageous battle with cancer; he was surrounded by his wife and children.
Born in Patterson, NJ June 5, 1937 he attended RCA Institute in NYC and Fairleigh-Dickinson University in NJ. He was employed by Bendix Corp. in Teterboro, NJ, until 1976, after which he was with General Electric Corp & Ametek Corp. in Wilmington, MA. Ron was a long time resident of Windham, NH and a parishioner of St. Matthew’s Church.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, a volunteer for the Town of Windham’s Emergency Management Team and a long time volunteer with Windham’s Communications committee, he was on the Board of Directors for Birch Hill Condominiums, and previously on the Board of Directors for Rockingham Commons in Salem. He was an avid boater, a Boating Captain, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, taught courses for Boatwise in Amesbury, MA as well as the Auxiliary Coast Guard and an experienced Ham Radio Operator.
Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Bernice Reap.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Nancy (Matthes) LaFlamme Casagrande of Windham and by his children Wayne Casagrande & wife Elizabeth of Oviedo, FL, Deborah O’Rourke and husband, John, of Salem, NH, Robyn Hughes and husband, John, of Gibsonia, PA, Joanne Reardon and husband, Vincent, of Fletcher, VT, Leo LaFlamme Jr. of Hudson, NH, Michelle M. LaFlamme of Hudson, NH. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren; Jonathan & Christopher O’Rourke, Sarah & Bryan Casagrande, Kellen & Kyleigh Hughes, and David & Daniella Reardon. Seppie Casagrande of Pittsford, VT, his mother-in-law, Rose Matthes, of Methuen, MA. and Denise Woll of Hudson, NH.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, at 10:00am at St.
Matthew’s Church, Windham, NH. Burial will follow in the Cemetery on the
Plain in Windham. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 14, from 4-8 pm at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
