Violet M. (Sharpe) Delicata a lifelong resident of Newton died on Saturday, March 8th at Massachusetts general Hospital in Boston. She was 77 years old. Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late James and Albertha (Lynch) Sharpe . Violet attended Newton High School and was a former employee of Salettes formerly of Newton Highlands and Cramer Electronics. She enjoyed spending time with the Upper Falls Women’s Club and playing bingo. Violet loved to travel. Most of all, Violet will be remembered for her devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren. The beloved wife of the late Mario Delicata, she was the devoted mother of Paula and Yvon Bourgeois of Newton, Donna Barry of Waltham, Janet and Tilmon Bourgeois of Newton, Linda and Tony El-Akoury of Millis, Joann and James Geilfuss Jr. of Newton and Carolyn and Thomas “Jay” Roycroft of Medfield. Sister of Marion “Auntie Min” Sharpe and the late James Sharpe Jr. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, her lifelong best friend Mary Silverstone of Stoughton, her seventh daughter Dinnie Edlin of Needham and son Paul Troisi of Boston as well as many friends. A Funeral Service will be held at the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut St., Newton on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Newton Cemetery.
