Colene (Kachianes) Dodsworth died on Sunday, March 9th at Caritas St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton. She was 67 years old. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Gerasimos and Jessie (MacKay) Kachianes. She was a graduate of Brighton High School and Boston College. Colene had lived in Millis for 22 years until moving to Prince Edward Island in 1992. Over the past few years, Colene had spent a great deal of time in Needham, caring for her late mother Jessie Kachianes who passed in March of 2007 and her late aunt Esther Mackay who passed away in December of 2007 at the age of 102. Colene was a community activist in both Millis and Belfast. While in Millis, she was a member of the Oak Tree League, served as a Girl Scout leader and served on the Arts Council. She was also a member of the Church of Christ in Millis. In Belfast, Colene was a member of the Belfast Historical Society. Locally, Colene worked as a caterer and housekeeper. She also worked at Ocean Choice in PEI from about 1993 – 2005 and was a member of the Health and Safety Committee there. Most recently, Colene was a volunteer at Plough of the Waves (Visitor Centre) in Woods Island, PEI. She was an in depth researcher of her family history and over the last 5 years Colene had been working with relatives across Canada, the U.S. and Europe on the family genealogy. She loved cooking and entertaining and was an avid gardener. Colene had an eye for treasure and could find treasure in the most unlikely places. She will always be remembered for her caring and devotion to her family. The beloved wife for over 44 years of Merle S. Dodsworth, she was the loving mother of Jerrilyn L. Rinaldi and her husband David of North Reading and David S. Dodsworth and his wife Jane of Medway. Dear grandmother of Adam and his fiancé Brittney, Sam, Zachary, Nicholas and great grandmother of Trinity. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham On Wednesday from 5-7 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of Christ, Congregational, 142 Exchange St Millis on Friday March 14 at 11 AM . Interment services will be held at the Athol Cemetery in Athol, Nova Scotia at a later date.
