DUDLEY – Susan M. (Young) Gardecki, 46, of 21 Carpenter Road, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, and was escorted into heaven by the angels.
She leaves her husband of 17 years, Thomas J. Gardecki; two sons, Vincent Patrick Gardecki and John Thomas Gardecki, both at home; her mother, Muriel M. (Jardine) Young of Dudley; 2 brothers, Stephen Young of Sturbridge and Alan Young of Webster; four sisters, Yvonne Walker of Central Village, CT, Lynn Deslauriers of Thompson, CT, Leona Young of Worcester, and Eileen Brooks of Webster; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard A. and Thomasina (Dalterio) Gardecki of Dudley; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was born in Florence, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, a daughter of the late Leonard Young, and lived in the Webster-Dudley area most of her life. She graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 1980.
Mrs. Gardecki was a nurse’s aide at Oakwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Webster for 20 years, retiring due to illness in January, 2006.
She was a member of Saint Louis Church in Webster and a former Christian Doctrine teacher there. She enjoyed traveling, reading, doing crossword puzzles, motorcycling, decorating and crafts. Above all, she loved her family.
The funeral will be held Thursday, March 13, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St., Webster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 9:00 PM Wednesday, March 12, in the funeral home.
