John F. Murray Jr. of Dedham, passed away March 9, 2008 at the VNA Care Hospice, Tippett Home, in Needham. He was 82 years old. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth T. (Browne) Murray.
Born in Brookline, he was the son of the late Dr. John F. and Maura (McCarthy) Murray. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Air Corps. A longtime Dedham resident, he coached soccer for Dedham Youth Soccer for many years. He was an employee of British Airlines.
He was the devoted father of Maura T. Farrell and her husband James of Dedham, Eileen E. Johnson and her husband Jay of Dedham, Shauna A. Darcy and her husband Thomas of Walpole and John F. Murray III of San Francisco, CA. Grandfather of Kiely M. Gamelin, Kathryn L. Lawes and Thomas P. Darcy Jr. Brother of Mayanne M. Lynch of Westwood, Sheila A. Sugrue of Franklin, Neal T. Murray of Yarmouth Port and the late James J. Murray.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, Thursday at 8 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
