Mary J. Lane, 90, a lifelong resident of Mansfield died on Saturday March 8, 2008 at the Golden Living Center, the former Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Attleboro.
Born in Boston, MA on January 2, 1918 she was a daughter of the late David J. and Nora (Noonan) Lane.
She grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools and was a graduate of Mansfield High School.
Miss Lane had been employed for the former New England Telephone Co. She began her career as a switchboard operator in Mansfield and retired from the accounting department in Boston. She had worked for the telephone company for 40 years prior to retirement in 1982.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield she was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s Club. Mary enjoyed trips taken to her family’s native country of Ireland.
She was the sister of Esther M. Lane of Mansfield, Paul A. Lane of Dedham and the late John Lane, David Lane, Robert Lane, Theresa Joubert and Catherine Lane. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and fiends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday March 13th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A. M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday March 11th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
