Larry S. Shu, PhD. of Newton Highlands, retired Director of Research for W.R. Grace Co. of Cambridge, died Wed. March 5, 2008 at Youville Hospital in Cambridge. He was 71.
Born in Malaysia he had lived in Newton for over 38 years. He received his Masters and PhD from Brown Univ. in Providence, RI. He worked at W.R. Grace for over 30 years until retiring in 2000. For over 15 years he operated Fitness Movement of Newton, a Tai Chi fitness training center. He also enjoyed traveling, cooking and classical music.
He is survived by his wife Carol C. (Ng) Shu, his son Dr. Russell S. Shu M.D. and his wife Dawnmarie of Westwood, his daughter Dr. Kirstin M. Shu M.D. and her husband Juan E. Small M.D. of Brookline his granddaughters Rachel, Caroline and Emma Shu and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A private funeral service was held at the Newton Cemetery Chapel followed by burial in Newton Cemetery.
