Lyla Melton Winn Lyla Melton Winn, 66, Clarksville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, March 8, 2008, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 1 pm Monday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Dr. Roger Freeman and Dr. Larry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Sunday and from 11 am until the hour of the service Monday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 6, 1941 in Stewart County, TN daughter of the late Henry H. Melton and Bertha Kent Melton. She was a cashier and retired from Winn-Dixie after 27 years and continued to work for Wortham's IGA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville and taught the 2nd grade Sunday School class for over 15 years. Lyla was a recently published author of an inspirational book of poetry entitled "I Dare To Share God's Gifts". She is survived by her husband Charles T. Winn, III, a son Chad Winn (Raeann); three daughters, Cindy Shepherd (David), Teresa Ferguson (Gary), and Dawn Wall (Billy) all of Clarksville; six grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Rogers, Hopkinsville, KY; and Shelby Jean Nunn, Columbia, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Trump and Shirlon Melton and a brother W.J. Melton. Pallbearers will be Chad Winn, David Shepherd, Gary Ferguson, Billy Wall, Joshua Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, and Jeff Melton.
