Frank Carriglio, of Stoneham, died Thursday at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 83.
Born in Augusta, Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and the late Santa (DiMauro) Carriglio. He lived in Argentina for a few years, where he met and married his wife whose parents had emigrated from that same seaport. The newlyweds soon joined Frank’s aunt here in the Boston area. After his apprenticeship as a blacksmith and advancement to precision welder in Italy and Argentina, Frank learned the plastering craft in the U. S. and excelled at his trade for many years. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Frank enjoyed good times with family and friends. He was a member of the Augusta Boston Club, enjoyed soccer, gardening and was a devout Red Sox fan. He especially loved dancing with his bride.
He was the beloved husband of Frances (Marsala), with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to James Carriglio recently from Montreal, Sandra Cersosimo and her husband John of Wakefield and the late RoseAnn Carriglio. He was a loving grandfather to Tina Cersosimo of Peabody, Joseph Cersosimo, Andrea Cersosimo both of Wakefield. He was the dear brother of Giuseppe Carriglio of Argentina. He also leaves many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Friday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
