Florence M. (Choptovy) Brown, 86, of Norton died on Friday March 7, 2008 surrounded by her loving family at the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Armand J. “Bucky” Brown who passed away on June 13, 1996, Mr. and Mrs. Brown were wed on January 7, 1943.
Born in Attleboro, MA on July 31, 1921 she was a daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Puhacz) Choptovy.
She grew up in Norton, was educated in Norton Public Schools and was a graduate of Norton High School.
Mrs. Brown served as a dedicated homemaker to her loving family. During WWII she had worked as a secretary to a United States Army Captain in California.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Florence enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her family. She had made her home in Norton for most of her life.
She is survived by her devoted children; Jeffrey A. Brown and his wife Mary of Norton, Susan L. Weilding and her husband Douglas of Norton and Karen L. Ashley of Norton, her brother Leo Choptovy of Johnston, Rhode Island, her cherished grandchildren; Jeffrey A. Brown, II of Norton, Jennifer L. Clarke of Upton and twins Brooke J. Ashley of Norton and Britt L. Ashley of Milford. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday March 11th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 10th from 4-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
