Obituary

Barbara F. Williams, 94, of Brentwood, NH, died Thursday, March 6, 2008 peacefully in Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood where she had been a resident for the past three years. Barbara was born in Rochester, NH on April 27, 1913, a daughter of the late Howard E. and Ella Gertrude (Brown) Smith. She grew up in Rochester attending Rochester schools and graduated from Rochester High School in 1932. She married James W. Williams in 1934, and they lived in Candia, NH until 1946 when they moved, with their three children, to Derry, NH. Barbara enjoyed her family and was a skilled homemaker. She was a creative cook who didn’t need a cookbook to create great dishes. Barbara started the hot lunch program at Pinkerton Academy in Derry in 1962. She was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist in Derry where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Church choir, and was active in the Women's Society. Barbara took pleasure in travel and made several memorable trips with friends and family. She enjoyed the friends she met at Derry Meadows where she lived for over 20 years. Barbara was an avid reader who enjoyed a wide variety of literature. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Robert W. Williams and his wife Catherine of Belchertown, MA, and Donald G. Williams and his wife Doris of Barnstead, NH; one daughter, Norma Fulton and her husband William of Madison, ME; three grandsons; one granddaughter; six great grandsons; three great granddaughters; three sister-in-laws, Lucille Walker of Merrimack, NH, Marion Giberson of Hooksett, NH, and Laurette Williams of Lakeland, FL; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, James W. Williams in 1961.
A calling hour was held on Monday, March 10th from 1 - 2pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm in the funeral home. The burial was held in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
