LOWELL—Grace C. (Corey) Hession, died Sunday evening at Saints Memorial Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Hession, who died in March of 1981.
She was born in Lowell, on May 13, 1909, a daughter of the late James E. and Dora (Braise) Corey, and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Mrs. Hession had been employed as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Nursing at Tewksbury Hospital for over 20 years and previously had worked in the Assessors Office for the City of Lowell.
She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the Holy Rosary Sodality, the League of Catholic Women and the Lowell Girls Club. She was a longtime Volunteer at Saints Memorial Medical Center.
Surviving her are a son and daughter-in-law: Edward D. and Mary C. Hession, of Lowell; three daughters and sons-in-law: Maureen and Henry Malay, of Concord, NH; Dorothy and Michael Scully, and Barbara and William Quirk, all of Chelmsford; her brothers and sisters: John Corey, Robert Corey, Paul Corey, Mary Geoffroy, Helen Campbell, Ruth Frawley, Theresa Iminski, and Dorothy Kilcoyne; also a sister-in-law: Mary F. Hession; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Shaun P. Scully, and sister of the late James, Arthur and William Corey.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 PM on Thursday evening, February 13th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street. (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered Friday, February 14th, at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Donations in her memory may be made to the Shaun P.
