Mario Pellegrini, 87, of Mansfield died on Tuesday March 4, 2008 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian M. (Melody) Pellegrini who passed away on April 11, 1996.
Born in Bossano, Italy on April 4, 1920 he was a son of the late John and Josephine (Morbidelli) Pellegrini.
He moved to Mansfield at the age of 12 where he made his home for the past 75 years. He attended Mansfield Public Schools. Mario faithfully served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Pellegrini had been employed for many years as a machine operator and thread grinder at the former Cleveland Twist Drill Co. and Mansfield and later when it became Bay State Tap & Die.
An avid golfer, Mario also enjoyed bowling, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his devoted children: Donna L. Monty and her husband Donald of Mansfield, Robert T. Pellegrini of Mansfield and the late Stewart Pellegrini, he was the dear brother of Nelia Phillips of Plainville and the late Angelo Pellegrini, Maria Pellegrini and Nelia Pellegrini, also survived by his loving grandchildren; Mario R. Monty of Easton and Jessica L. Monty of Mansfield, his great grandson Nicholas R. Monty and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday March 13th at 10:00 A.M. with military honors at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield. Burial will follow.
Visiting hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mario’s memory may be made to the Madonna Manor Nursing Home 85 North Washington St. North Attleboro, MA 02760.
