Obituary

WORCESTER-Marie C. (Graziadei) Lepore, 97, of Worcester, died Saturday, March 1st, in her home. She leaves her husband of 62 years, Irving A. Lepore; and several nephews and nieces.

She was born in New York City, the daughter of Leonard and Rachel (Pelletieri) Graziadei and graduated from the former High School of Commerce and Hunter College. Mrs. Lepore worked for the City of Worcester as a social worker for children and later as the head social worker for the Department of the Aged, retiring in 1975. She was one of the first female pilots from Worcester to have served with the Civil Air Patrol in the 1940’s and was a commanding officer of its Worcester Squadron. Mrs. Lepore was a member St. Charles Borromeo Church, the Massachusetts Aeronautic Association, the Hennigan Center, Melbourne, FL and the Worcester Art Museum; she was a charter member of the International Organization of Women Pilots and was a sponsor of Arts Worcester. Mrs. Lepore was a gifted artist and gardener.

The funeral is Tuesday, March 4th with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to UMass-Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
