Norma L. (Janes) Barboza, 75 of Taunton, a former longtime resident of North Attleboro died on Friday February 29, 2008 at Longmeadow of Taunton after a long illness. She was the wife of Martin R. “Wallace” Barboza for the past 54 years.
Born in Attleboro, MA on April 14, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Clarence W. and Hazel L. (Cooke) Janes, Sr.
She grew up in Attleboro and North Attleboro, was a graduate of North Attleboro High School and went on to become a graduate of the former Pondville Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Barboza was a retired Groover having worked for the former Univis Eye Frame Co. in North Attleboro for many years prior to retiring and when younger was employed as an RN at Pondville Hospital.
An avid Patriots fan, she will be remembered by her family for the exceptional cooking skills she possessed. Norma had made her home in Taunton for the past 17 years and was a former resident of North Attleboro for most of her life. She and her husband had also lived for a short time in Deland, Florida following retirement.
Norma was much loved for her warmth, kindness, wit, intellect and social grace. She will be missed.
Besides her husband she is survived by her beloved children; Gary R. Bouchard and his wife Kathy of Torrington, Conn., Michael A. Barboza of Foxboro, Patricia L. Marshall and her husband Bruce of Rehoboth, Tracy Merigold and her husband Raymond of Plainville, Holly B. Santos and her husband Mario of Mapleville, R.I. and Martin R. Barboza and his wife Kimberly of Rehoboth. She was the proud grandmother of Michael Bouchard, David Bouchard, Keith Barboza, Michael Barboza, Wesley Barboza, Heather Barboza, Jennifer Merigold and Jake Barboza, sister of Clarence “Bill” Janes, Jr. and his wife Doris of Hendersonville, NC and the late Judith Janes., also survived by 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday March 4th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will be in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 3rd from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
