Eleanor (Fermino) Gomes, 75, of New Bedford died Thursday February 28, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late James C. and Benvinda (Texeira) Fermino, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Gomes was formerly employed as a fabric examiner at Calvin Clothing for 20 years until her retirement.
She loved watching the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Ramos and her companion Michael Oliveira of New Bedford, and Carol Campini and her husband Clayton "Lucky" of Acushnet; her daughter-in-law, June Gomes of New Bedford; a sister, Evelyn "Evie" Britto of New Bedford; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Stephen J. Gomes and the sister of the late James C. "Jake" Fermino and Marilyn L. Martin.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
