Obituary



Paxton—Harry G. Sogigian, 95, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, in the Jewish Healthcare Center. His wife, Mary (Tashjian) Sogigian, died in 1988. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of George H. and Agavne (Boghosian) Sogegian and graduated from South High School. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Avakian and her husband George of Worcester; a son, George H. Sogigian and his wife Rosanna of Shrewsbury; two granddaughters, Sarah and Carol of Shrewsbury; and two nieces. His two sisters, Rose Sogigian and Margaret Demirjian preceded him in death.

Harry was founder and former owner of Reliable Electroplating Co., retiring in 1977. He organized the first Worcester Branch of the American Electroplating Society, serving as president and later as treasurer. He was an active member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour where he served in many capacities, including chairman and treasurer of the parish council, choir member, and Diocese Delegate for five terms. He was a veteran member of the Isaiah Thomas Masonic Lodge, the Armenian General Benevolent Union, the Knights of Vartan, and the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m., in Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester.
