Barbara W. Chakuroff,(Crowther), 78, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Haven Health Center in Greenville after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Providence, she is now reunited with her late parents Earl and Winifred (Swift) Crowther formerly of Centredale and her brother James Rodney Crowther formerly of Coventry.
Barbara was employed by N.E. Telephone, Waterman Heights Nursing Home and Induplate. She was a CCD teacher, Brownie and 4H leader.
As a mother, grandparent and friend, Barbara will always be remembered for her love, selflessness, kindness and total devotion. All of our lives are richer for having been touched by hers.
She is survived by her seven children; John Kenneth Chakuroff and his wife Sandi, Sheila Borges and her husband Kenneth, James Chakuroff, Sharon Gruttadauria and her husband Joseph, Marylou Lawson, Teresa McCartin and her husband Joseph and Maureen Chakuroff.
Nothing made her smile more than her fourteen grandchildren; John, Mark, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Carolyn, Alison, Christopher, Traci, Ryan, Samuel, Madison, Harrison, Kyle and Bianca. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Olga Crowther, niece Vicki and nephews Chris and Matt. She was the former wife of John Chakuroff.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Tuesday at 9am in St. Brigid’s Church, 1231 Plainfield Pike, Johnston, RI 02919. Burial will be private. Visitation Monday 4-8pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Brigid’s Church to be used for ther renovation.
