NEW BEDFORD — Robert Wetzel, age 64 years, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at home. He was the husband of Patricia Lee (Fernandes) Wetzel.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late John Henry and Irene (Weckermann) Wetzel and lived in this community all of his life.
For 41 years, he was employed as night grocery worker for Stop and Shop, was a former member of the New Bedford Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John Henry Wetzel and his wife, Julie of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; his daughters, Patricia Lee Cardoza and Susan Elizabeth Amaral and her husband, Dan, all of New Bedford; his brother, Herbert Wetzel and his wife, Marie of Swansea; his sister, Evelyn Hotte and her husband, Wilfred of Taunton; three grandchildren, Matthew D. Amaral, Khloe N. Wetzel and Karleigh N. Wetzel; his sister-in-law, Theresa Wetzel; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ernest Wetzel.
