Obituary

Giro E. Cerulli, age 81, a resident of Winchester for over 60 years, passed away suddenly at Winchester Hospital on Feb. 28th. Born, raised and educated in East Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Nancy (Papleo). After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served during WWII. Upon discharge, he returned to the Boston area, where he was employed as a Hoisting Engineer with Louis P. Drinkwater of Reading. He was also a member of the IUOE (International Union of Operators and Engineers), Local 4. An avid golfer in his spare time, Mr. Cerulli shot a hole-in-one at the 8th hole on the Unicorn golf course on April 11, 2000. He was a former member of the Sons of Italy Club in Winchester. Giro was the beloved husband for 57 years of Pauline J. (Capone), and the brother of Thomas Cerulli of Winthrop and the late Dominic G., Geraldine P. Bourque, Anne Bare and Marie Anderson. Brother-in-law of Joseph E. Capone and his wife Grace of Winchester. He was also the loving uncle of Nancy C. Leoni, Joseph P. Capone, Maryanne and Stephen Barron, Deborah and William Mullen, Regina Capone, Melissa, Stephanie and Stephen R. Barron, Nicole, Wayne, Connor and Kayla Pandolph,the late Wayne Capone, and numerous other nieces and nephews. His Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Mon., March 3 at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sun. from 2-5PM. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway - Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
