John W. Rowell, 88, of Haines City, Florida died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Monday, March 3, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kenneth Mathews and Rev. Henry Rowell officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery at Ambrose, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Rowell was born May 13, 1919 in Coffee County to the late Alexander A. and Ellen Key Rowell. He had lived in Polk County, Florida since moving there in 1948 from Fitzgerald, he was a retired carpenter and a member of the Assembly of God Faith.
Mr. Rowell is survived by a son and daughter in law: Bobby G. and Lois Rowell of Haines City, FL; 2 Grand Children: Joe (Heather) Rowell and Chris (Angel) Rowell; one great grandson: Kyle Rowell; one brother: Tom Rowell of Fitzgerald; three sisters: Katherine Mathews of Fitzgerald, Leacy Ann Walker of Tifton and Elaine Holley of Fitzgerald. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Srinea Troup Rowell, three brothers and three sisters.
