WORCESTER-David G. Swett, 66, of 38 Outlook Drive formerly of 147-A Olean Street died Saturday, February 8th in UMass Memorial Healthcare/Memorial Campus after an illness. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Patricia A. (Masterson) Swett; 2 sons, Michael A. Swett of Black Hawk, SD and Bruce W. Swett of Worcester; 3 daughters, Delores P. Swett of Worcester, Catherine I. Silva of Spencer and Suzan A. Berg of Worcester; 2 brothers, William Swett of Newburyport, NH and Walter Drake of Hubbardston; 3 sisters, Carol Hopper of Worcester, Helena Cassin of Hudson, NH and Alice MacRae of Hubbardston; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A daughter, Christine A. Swett predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of William Swett and Irene C. (Moore) Swett Drake and has lived here all of his life. He attended the Belmont Street School. Mr. Swett was a self-employed contractor in the Worcester area for several years, retiring in 1983. Previously he worked as a machinist for the Colony Press in Auburn. He was an active member of the Worcester Elks Lodge, local #243, where he served as a past trustee and past treasurer. He also volunteered numerous hours in the production and operation of the Special Olympics, sponsored by the Elks, for many years. He enjoyed being a DJ for karaoke and weddings as a hobby. He was a computer enthusiast and loved golfing, camping, fishing and music.
The funeral will be Tuesday, February 11th at 10:00 AM in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be Monday, February 10th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
