Obituary

Mr. Arnold L. "Ricky" Moore was born in Madison County, Alabama on August 17, 1948, to the late Mr. Arthur F. Moore and the late Mrs. Fruzzie Haygood Moore. He departed this life on Saturday, February 23, 2008.

Arnold accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Little Flock Primitive Baptist church in Brownsboro, Alabama at an early age. He later joined the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he served faithfully as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, a dedicated Sunday School teacher and mentor for Junior Class 5, and a member of the Trustee Board. He never missed an opportunity to be a witness for the Lord. Among his may favorite scriptures were Phillipians 4:13 and Psalm 119:105.

A proud graduate of Councill Training High School and Alabama A & M University, Mr. Moore served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He recently retired as a Procurement Analyst for the Defense Contract Management Agency, United States Department of Defense after 34 years of federal service. Ricky was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Cross Moore for 32 years. To this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers: Mary Ellen Moore and Emma Moore Jones, Alfred and Randy Moore.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife Mary; their children Kimberly and Steven Moore; grandson, Elijah Robinson Moore; four brothers, Leon Moore of Huntsville, AL, Leonard Moore (Debbie) of Gurley, AL, Stanley Moore (Malia), Clarence Moore (Doris) all of Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Gloria Green (Charlie), Sylvia Battles (Freddrick) all of Huntsville, AL; three aunts, Ella Baker of Chattanooga, TN, Callie Douglas and Delia Stone of Gurley, AL and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Moore will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from the Donald Trimble Mortuary in Decatur, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 28, 2008 from the Hurricane Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Rice officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. The remains of Mr. Moore will be in the church from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at 12:00 noon.
