Carryann (Cowgill) Lopez, age 31, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, died on Sunday, February 24th, 2008, at Massachusetts General Hospital following a courageous battle with leukemia. She was the beloved wife of Peter Lopez.
She was born in Lowell on September 13th, 1976, beloved daughter of Thomas Cowgill of Nashua, and beloved daughter of Rose (Plourde) Hildreth and stepdaughter of Charlie Hildreth, both of Lowell.
Carryann attended Lowell Schools, and graduated from Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School, specializing in cosmetology.
According to the family, she was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed field hockey, softball, and the Boston Red Sox. She loved playing Bingo and spending time with her family. A dedicated wife and mother, she was very family-oriented. She also enjoyed working with, and taking care of the elderly, and had worked as a home health aid for several years.
Besides her husband, father, mother and stepfather, she is survived by her two sons: Alec Lopez and Brandon Lopez, both of Dracut; a brother and sister-in-law: Thomas & Shanna Cowgill of Pepperell; a sister and a brother-in-law: Michelle & Joseph Anstiss of Lowell; her grandmother, Rita Kirikakos of Lowell; three nieces: Paige Anstiss, Meghan Cowgill and Michaela Coyle; two nephews: Devin Cowgill and Tom Tom Cowgill; also several aunts, uncles and cousins including Tracy, Mary, Tina, Jodie and Steve. The family also would like to express their sincere appreciation for the caregivers at Mass General Hospital who took exceptional care of her during her illness.
Visiting Hours for Carryann (Cowgill) Lopez will take place on Thursday at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, from 2 until 4 & 6 until 8 PM. A prayer service will take place at 8:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mass General Hospital Oncology, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114.
