Methuen, Ma. – Arnaldo Melo, 76, died Wednesaday at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, Ma.
Born in St. Michaels, Azores Portugal, Arnaldo was the son of Antonio and Inresnestina (Cabral) Melo. Mr. Melo for many years had been employed as a Packer with the Frank C. Meyers Packing Company of Lawrence.
Mr. Melo was a former communicant of Sts. Peter and Pauls Portuguese Church in Lawrence prior to its closing.
Arnaldo was a former veteran of the Portuguese Army, enjoyed soccer, was a member of the Portuguese Club in Lawrence, and considered to be the consumate family man.
A longtime resident of Methuen Arnaldo is survived by his wife of 50 years Maria (Amaral) Melo.
He is survived by children; Madalena Melo, Gabe and wife Belinha Melo of Pelham, NH, Ana and husband Joe Melo of Salem, NH, Paula Melo of Methuen, and Fernando and wife Seny Melo of Salem, NH, one sister, and three brothers in Portugal.
Survivors include 4 grandchildren; Jennifer, David, Ashley, and Sarah, as well as 1 greatgrandchild Aundre, and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Monicas Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-6 pm. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
