Obituary

Westport - Leo O. Matton, 84, of Westport passed away Friday, February 22, 2008 at home with his family beside him. He was the husband of Lillian (Nolet) Matton for 62 years.

Born in Fall River, son of the late Oscar and Lena (Bousquet) Matton he had lived in Westport since 1952. A United States Navy veteran of WWII, he served in the South Pacific receiving the American Ribbon, Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and 2 stars, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and 3 stars as well as the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Matton was an electrician for Northern Electric in New Bedford. He was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans #118, American Legion Post 314 of Fall River and A.A.R.P.

Including his wife, he is survived by a son: Ronald Matton and his wife Patricia of Acushnet; 4 daughters: Jeanine White of Norton, Claudette Moses of Bourne, Elaine Ross and her husband Larry of Wakefield, RI and Janet Matton of Mattapoisett; a brother: Alfred Matton of New Bedford; a sister: Rita Rist of Corvallis, OR; he was the proud Grandpa of 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was father of the late Roger Matton and brother of the late Roland Matton and Doris Cardoza.
