Obituary

WEBSTER – Leo F. McCarty, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 17, in Hubbard Regional Hospital.

He leaves his wife and best friend of 45 years, Norma (O’Brien) McCarty; 2 sisters, Marie Perewitz of Carver and Evelyn Hartley of Fort Meyers, FL; his sister-in-law, Mary F. O’Brien of Webster; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Catherine Anderson and his brother Joseph McCarty.

He was born in Avon, son of Leo and Annie (Nash) McCarty. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. McCarty was a supervisor at the former Bates Shoe Company, retiring in 1992. He golfed all his life and was a member of Nichols College Golf Association. He enjoyed sports and reading. He was a member of St. Louis Church.

The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 22, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors. A calling period will be from 8:15 to 9:15 AM Friday in the funeral home.
