Obituary

Herbert F. "Fran" Holden, 68, of 20 Muddy Pond Road, died Monday, Feb. 3, in UMass Memorial Medical Center--Memorial Campus, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Lois J. (Klees) Holden; two daughters, Diane M. Barrett and Deborah A. Doldo, both of Worcester; a son, William F. Holden of Charlton; his stepmother, Rena Holden of West Boylston; two stepbrothers, Kenneth Winquist of Millbury and Melvin Winquist of Worcester; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Herbert A. Holden, Jr., and Hazel (Wilkenson) Holden. He lived in Sterling since 1975. He attended Classical High School, Worcester, and graduated from Worcester Junior College with an associate's degree in engineering. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Holden worked for the former Heald Machine Co., in the inventory-control department for 37 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Boylston Lodge of Masons. He was a past patron of Stella Chapter 3 Order of the Eastern Star. He was an avid golfer.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5-8 pm Friday, Feb 7.
