HUDSON___Dorothy R. (Putrus) Maunus, 85, of 11 Lake Street, formerly of West Mountain Street, Worcester, died Tuesday February 19 in Bolton Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Marlborough.
She leaves a daughter, Marilyn N. Cunic and her husband, Richard of Hudson; three grandchildren, Elaine Dumas of Wareham; Bryan Cunic of Webster and Andrea O’Connor of Webster; six great-grandchildren and ten nephews and nieces. A son, Kenneth W. Gut died in 1963, a daughter, Diane R. Allen died in 1994. She was also predeceased by a brother, George Putrus. She was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Stankaitis) Putrus and later lived in Charlton for 22 years before returning to Worcester where she resided for many years. She has lived in Hudson for the last two years.
Mrs. Maunus was a secretary for nine years for the Probation Dept. of the Worcester County Courthouse and retired in 1978. Before then she worked for Wyman Gordon Co. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester.
Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Worcester and the Charlton Garden Club. She was a former member of the Polish American Veterans of World War II Auxiliary.
The funeral will be held on Friday February 22 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Thursday February 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hudson Public Library, Large Print Books Program, 3 Washington Street, Hudson, MA., 01749.
