Sylvio J. Lamarche, age 78, a U.S. Army Veteran, died Monday, Feb. 18 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell after a long illness. For 50 years, he was the husband of the late Anna J. (Sawtelle) Lamarche who died on Jan. 2 1998.
He was born in Dracut on March 15, 1929, the son of the late Francis and Rose (Therrien) Lamarche. Sylvio was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Lowell Car Wash for several years and was previously an auto mechanic with Ed's Auto in Lowell for many years. In his spare time, Sylvio enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is survived by nine daughters and sons-in-law, Leona Buchikos of Ossipee, NH, Carol Carrion, Rose and Antonio Luna, Theresa and Doris Lamarche, all of Lowell, Anna and Ronald Duke of Pepperell, Margaret and Hazel Lamarche, Deborah and Somkith Inthachack, all of Lowell; five sons and daughters-in-law, Sylvio Lamarche, Jr., Robert and Irene Lamarche, Randall and Joseph, and Paul and Michelle Lamarche, all of Lowell; a daughter-in-law, Carol Lamarche of Lowell; two brothers-in-law, Herbert Sawtelle and his wife Kathy and Robert Sawtelle, all of Lowell; also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Francis Lamarche and was also pre-deceased by many brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Marguerite D'Youville Parish, Dracut. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery.
