Jerome J. Doherty of Needham died February 18, 2008 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 82 years old. He was the beloved husband of Rose M. (Martino) Doherty for 58 years.
Born in Greenfield, he was the son of the late Victor and Esther (Hartnett) Doherty. He has been a Needham resident for 50 years. A World War II, U.S. Navy Veteran, he was a retired employee of the New England Telephone Company.
He was the father of Victor J. Doherty and his wife Jane of Wellesley, Anne E. Doherty of Needham and Paul M. Doherty of Stoughton. Grandfather of Patrick, Nicholas, Danielle, Stephanie, Christine, Andrea and Victoria. He his also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, on Thursday at 9 AM with a funeral mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Needham, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
