Obituary

Salem: Mariette L. Beaudry age 95 a resident of Salem, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the John Bertram House in Swampscott.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N.A. and Emma (Dupré) Beaudry. A graduate of St. Chretienne Academy, she was employed buy the U.S. Department of Defense at the Boston Army Base until her retirement in 1973.
An active and athletic woman, Mariette loved swimming and walking and was a life long member of the Salem YMCA where she received a special award for for logging 1000 miles of swimming in their pool. She was also voted into the Salem High Hall of Fame, as their # 1 fan for 50 years of attendance of every football and basketball game.
Mariette was also a devoted member of both the former St. Joseph Parish and the former St. Mary’s Italian Church. For 25 years she was daily sacristan for St. Mary’s and in 1997 the sacristy was officially dedicated to her for her service. She was a caring, grateful and unassuming woman who always enjoyed a good laugh.
She is survived by a niece June Beaudry Crosby of Middleton and many devoted friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Armand Beaudry, and 2 sisters, Lucienne Beaudry and Cecile Gaudette.
Her funeral will be on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by her funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Salem at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Bertram House, 565 Humphrey St., Swampscott, MA 01907.
