
Salem: Mary M. (Rodzynski) Ginkus age 95 of Salem, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Devereux House in Marblehead following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew Ginkus.
Born in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine A. (Meisser) Rodzynski. A well respected violinist, she studied with Jesse Shepherd and attended the Boston Conservatory. For many years was an adjunct teacher of string instruments in Salem, Peabody, Lynn and Saugus school systems and as far away as Shrewsbury and Framingham. She maintained studios in Peabody and Salem where she taught violin, viola and cello. Mrs. Ginkus played for the North Shore Philharmonic, Andover Symphony, Boston Civic and Salem Philharmonic orchestras.
She was at one time active in the Polish American Women’s Political Club of Peabody and was president of the choir for the former St. Joseph Church of Peabody.
Mrs. Ginkus was a lover of flowers and devoted much of her time to gardening following her retirement from teaching in 1975. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Salem.
She is survived by 4 step-children: Linda J. Boudreau and her husband Jean C. of Salem, John V. Ginkus and his wife Susan of Atkinson, NH, Kathleen A. McInerney and her husband Michael of Peabody, Anne M. LeBlanc and her husband William of Salem and 4 cousins: Aline Zmijewski of Beverly, Louise Deacon of Gloucester, Richard Flisak of Nashua, NH and Stanley Meisser of Gilford, NH. She is also survived by step grandchildren.
Linda and Jean Boudreau would like to thank the staff of Devereux House for the excellent care received over the last 4 years and to Hospice of the North Shore for their invaluable help.
