Obituary

Mildred E. (Doherty) Sampson, 84, of 48 Trinity Avenue died
Saturday, Feb. 16 in Parsons Hill Nursing Home after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 60 years Edward T. Sampson, four daughters
Margaret Donahue of Newton, New Jersey, Shirley Roussin of Sun City West,
Arizona, Katherine Duncan of Littleton, Colorado, Mary Trowbridge of
Surprise, Arizona, two sisters Lorraine Gangai of Kerrville, Texas, Phyllis
Hundemer of Cocoa, Florida, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by a daughter Elizabeth
Mulcahy of Gresham, Oregon who died in 2001, a brother William Doherty of
Cherry Valley and a sister Margaret Caroline Doherty of Boston.
Mrs. Sampson was born in Portland, Maine daughter of Phillip T. and
Mildred (Ross) Doherty. She graduated from Commerce High School. She
served in the United States Army Air Corp. during WW II. She was a charter
member of the Women's Veterans organization in Washington, D.C. and a
charter member of the Women's International Bowling Congress. She enjoyed
bowling, traveling, collecting Fenton Glass and spending time with her
family.
After cremation funeral services and burial will be private at the
convenience of the family in Rural Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers
memorial donations may be made to Women's Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 96742,
Washington, D.C., 20077. MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main
Street, Leicester is directing arrangements.
