James F. “Jimmy” Rego, Jr., 64 years of Brockton died unexpectedly Thursday February 14, 2008 at the Brockton Hospital. He was the husband for 40 years of Helen (McCullough) Rego. He was born and raised in Cambridge, a son of the late James and Margaret (Kirby) Rego. Mr. Rego had been a resident of Brockton since 1979. At the time of his death he was employed by the Brockton Parking Authority and Brockton YMCA. Previously he had worked for over 30 years as a quality control inspector for Acoustic Research in Norwood. He was devoted to his wife and children and loved babysitting his grandchildren. He was generous and selfless, always willing to help those in need. He cherished taking vacations to upstate New York to visit family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Rizzo and her husband Mario of Brockton, 2 sons, Sean Rego and his wife Susan of Brockton and Joseph Rego of San Francisco, his grandchildren, Brendan, Anya, Liam and Rambo Rizzo, Aidan and Amelia Rego. He was the last surviving sibling of the Cambridge Rego family.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8am.Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish/St. Colman Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8pm.
