New Bedford - George F. “Fred” Randall, Sr., 68, of Rochester passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was husband of the late Irene (Bariteau) Randall.
Born in Acushnet, he was son of the late George Cudworth Randall and the late Priscilla (Winterbottom) Randall. He was employed by Andrews and Pierce, Inc. of N. Abington until its closing in 1982, he then worked for Christie Transfer until it closed in 1992. He also worked as a driver for Shaw’s Supermarkets, delivering to stores and as a part time driver for Penske Truck Leasing of New Bedford. Mr. Randall was the first father and son to serve as fire chief for the Town of Rochester. He was a member of the last graduating class from the former George Waterman School in 1953, presently known as the Rochester Fire Station. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police and Plymouth County Firefighters Association and a retired member of the Local # 653 Teamsters Union. Mr. Randall enjoyed shell fishing, but most of all loved to be with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter: Brenda L. Patnaude of New Bedford; 3 sons: George F. Randall, Jr. of Fairhaven, Robert E. Randall, Sr. of Rochester and David A. Randall, Sr. of Rochester, with whom he lived with; 7 grandchildren: George F. Randall III, Jamie L. Patnaude, Corey J. Randall, Robert E. Randall, Jr., Tiffany M. Randall, David A. Randall, Jr. and Stacey M. Andrade; a great granddaughter: Carissa M. Caban; a sister: Priscilla (Randall) Lyons of Owings, MD; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Kirby Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Interment in Sherman Cemetery, Rochester.
