Muriel Gatto of Needham died Friday, February 15, 2008 at her home after a long illness. She was 88.
Born in Needham on November 14, 1919, she spent her entire life in Needham. She was the daughter of the late Ralph G. and Hazel Adams. Mrs. Gatto graduated from Needham High School. She also attended the Vesper George School of Art and Simmons College.
Mrs. Gatto was a member of the New Century Club, Florence Crittendon League, and the Needham Historical Society. She was an accomplished artist, avid reader and dedicated sports fan. She also enjoyed gardening and was a nature lover and supported many philanthropic causes in support of her love of nature.
Wife of the late Victor E. Gatto, Sr; She is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Adams, and her grandson Gregory Gatto. She leaves three children, Victor Gatto and his wife Joy of Oak Ridge, TN, Gillyin Gatto of Machias, ME, and Richard Gatto and his wife Claudia of Needham, MA. In addition, she leaves eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave, Needham on Wednesday February 20 at 11:00 Am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment at Needham Cemetery. Memorial donations in Muriel’s name may be made to the Needham Fields of Dreams c/o Needham Sports Council, 15 Laurel Circle, Needham MA 02492.
