Dorothy R. “Dottie” Brady, of Medford, died Thursday at the Lahey Clinic, from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was 75.
Dottie was born and raised in Medford, the daughter of the late John and the late Rose (Mitchell) Mahoney. Dottie was a great wife and mother. She raised six children and was active and present in the lives of her grandchildren, the loves of her life. She delighted in attending all their sporting events and was “nanna” to her grandchildren’s friends. Dottie was a member of the Red Hats and was active at St. Francis parish. A member of a current production of Oliver, Dottie loved to sing and imparted that gift to her daughters. For over 25 years, Dottie served as a traffic supervisor and crossing guard in Medford. For most of that time she cared for the safety of hundreds of children at the Gleason School. As president of the traffic supervisors association, she made sure the supervisors were well equipped and compensated fairly.
She was the beloved wife of William J. “Bill” Brady, of the Medford School Committee. She was a devoted mother to Robin Hoff and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, Paula McGlynn and her husband Richard of Medford, Sharon Keith and her husband Mark of Medford, MaryBeth Buckley and her husband Paul of Wakefield, Michelle Foy and her husband Shawn of Haverhill, William J. Brady, Jr. and Karen Stone of Medford. She was a loving “Nanna” to Bobby, Leah, Richard, Michael, John, Erin, Patrick, MaryBeth, Katie, Robert, Ellen, Carley, Ned, David, and Mitchell. She was a dear sister to Ruth Cecere of Ft. Lauderdale, Mil McCreedy of Medford, the late John, Robert, Francis and Richard Mahoney. She was a dear sister-in-law of Evelyn Mahoney of Plum Isle.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 9 AM. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
