Obituary

Carl Busey, beloved husband of Fuzzy Busey, entered heaven peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Carl is survived by his wife of 52 years, Fuzzy; his four children, Scott, Rustie, Gregg, and Roxanne; two daughters-in-law, Norma Busey and Laurie Busey; a son-in-law, Daniel Ward; six grandchildren, Cheryl, Cara, Andrew, Kevin, Adam, and Eric; his two sisters, Shirley Karrip and Faye Deater of Grand Rapids, Michigan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Only rarely does one have the pleasure of making the acquaintance of a man as honorable, kind, and loving. His entire life was dedicated to his family, and he led by example as a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather, while also serving as a coach, teacher, and listener to many dear friends that he leaves behind. His sense of humor and quick, subtle wit brought joy to all of us, and he provided strength to the entire family during many challenging times. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and their children, and often fondly reminisced about the fun we have on vacations together. His roots extend down the entire East coast, and started in Michigan, where he met our mother, Fuzzy, who has been his life-long partner ever since. She provided constant care during the battle for his health, and no doubt gave him the happiest and most fulfilling life a man could ask for.

His life-long passion for sports, especially his dedication to Michigan football, gave us all inspiration and provided lively entertainment when our family gathered for holidays and special occasions. Whenever the University of Michigan fight song is played somewhere, or when the Detroit Loins, Tigers, and Red Wings put on their gear, he will be cheering them on from above as he did with all of us. Every time someone in the family starts a poker game, or a game of catch, our Dad will be there to join the fun.

In addition, to his love for sports, he was a patriot who had a long and accomplished career within the U. S. Aerospace and Defense Industry Financial community, working for Honeywell, Lear-Siegler, Pratt and Whitney, and Lockheed Martin, from which he retired in 1997. He served our Lord God by becoming active at several of the churches that he attended through the years, and was honored by being ordained as an Elder by the Presbyterian Church.

Our family owes a huge debt of gratitude to the nurse and staff of the Tiftarea Hospice Care organization, and we will never forget their kindness and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be make to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, or a local Hospice. A memorial service will be planned for family and friends in the Spring of 2008.
