Obituary

John Anthony Pompeo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, joining his beloved wife Pasqua “Lena” Pompeo, who he has missed with all his heart. Now, together in eternal life, the circle is complete.

John was born in the North End, April 9th, 1916, the son of the late Domenico and the late Nancy (Petraglia) Pompeo. A Medford resident for most of his life, He lived in Stoughton for the past thirty years. He worked as a cloth cutter for most of his life and owned King Lounge Inc. in South Boston, a furniture company. John had many interests. He spent many summer vacations at Craigsville Beach on the Cape, drove to Miami Beach every winter with Lena and visited Foxwoods, often. He enjoyed playing golf, swimming and was a member of the Medford Elks.

Lena and John moved to Stoughton to be closer to their “girls”. Lena met Teresa Amaral at work and instantly fell in love with her. John and Lena took Teresa under their wings and became parents to her. Teresa’s children became their grandchildren.


John was the beloved husband of the late Pasqua “Lena” (LaMonica). He was a devoted brother to the Honorable Fred Pompeo and Anna Salvucci, both of Medford, the late Louise Aliberti, Anthony Pompeo, C. Peter Pompeo and Mary Tortorici. He was a dear brother-in-law of his primary caregiver Carmella McCorrison and Honey McGrail. He was “like a father” to Teresa Amaral and grandfather to Louise Aliberti-Tushim and her husband Lance, Cheryl DeFusco her husband Peter and their children Cristy and Peter. He also leaves “the boys” Fred, Jr., John and Steven Pompeo, a special niece, Joanne Grenham and many other dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford Monday at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 1 – 5 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 25 Spring Street, Walpole, MA 02081 or to Alzheimer´s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
