Velma Reeves Cauley Cain, 87, of Irwinville died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, February 16, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Sonny Pate, Rev. Huey Nichols and Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cain was born August 11, 1920 in Ben Hill County to the late Alvord L. and Tina White Reeves. She was a 1937 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and moved back to the community in 1968 from Macon. Mrs. Cain was retired Inventory Management Specialist from Robins Air Force Base. She was a member of the Irwinville Baptist Church. She and her first husband were part of the original Irwinville Farms Project.
Mrs. Cain is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Laverne & Bill Livingston of Ben Hill County, Patricia & Robert White of Huntsville, AL and Marlene Crosby of Finleyson; son and daughter-in-law: Marvin & Linda Cauley of Albany; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law: Virginia & E.R. Smith of Columbus. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Wilton Cauley and Carl Cain; three grandchildren: Scott Livingston, Steven White, and Tracy White; three brothers; and four sisters.
The family suggests those desiring to send memorials in lieu of flowers may send them to the church or charity of the donor’s choice.
